  Pedestrian struck and killed by NJ Transit train Updated 9:37 AM;  Today 9:37 AM  Facebook Share Twitter Share By  Rodrigo Torrejon | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com A NJ Transit train struck and killed a pedestrian late Thursday night in Elizabeth, officials said. At around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, a Northeast Corridor train that had departed from New York Penn Station fatally hit a pedestrian just west of Elizabeth Station, a spokesman for NJ Transit said in a statement. There were no other injuries reported. Approximately 300 customers and crew were on board at the time of the fatal strike. Service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line was temporarily suspended in both directions. Service has since resumed. As of Friday morning, no information on the victim had been released. NJ Transit Police was leading the investigation, the statement said.

The man, who was not identified, was struck about two miles east of Union Station at 3:05 p.m., said Jim Smith, a spokesman for NJ Transit. None of the customers or crew onboard were injured. The Raritan Valley Line train had originated Penn Station New York and was set to arrive at High Bridge Station at 4:30 p.m. Passengers were provided bus service. Service has since resume a normal schedule after operating with heavy delays during the Monday evening rush.

  Remember Pedestrian struck and killed on Route 9 in central N.J. by NJ Transit bus   April 21, 2021 By  Jeff Goldman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com A pedestrian was stuck and killed by a sport-utility vehicle on Route 9 in Old Bridge on Tuesday night, authorities said. The man was hit in the northbound middle lane around 10:30 p.m. near the NJ Transit bus park-and-ride and a McDonald’s restaurant, Old Bridge police said Wednesday. The victim wasn’t carrying identification but appeared to be about 40 to 50 years of age, police said. “All attempts are being made to identify him,” a police spokesman said. The woman driving the vehicle stopped and cooperated with police. She is not expected to be charged. Jane B. Siegel was struck at 4:39 a.m. by train 6602, which had departed Dover at 4:16 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 5:44 a.m., transit officials said. Siegel was hit at Kahn Road near Convent Station in Morristown, said Jim Smith, spokesman for NJ Transit. There were no injuries to the train’s 30 passengers or the crew members.  Remember  Man Killed by NJ Transit Train in Little Falls  on April 22, 2021 NJ Transit officials are looking into the cause of a pedestrian strike that killed a man on their tracks in Passaic County this morning.  Transit officials said at approximately  9:57 a.m. , Montclair-Boonton Train 1074, which departed Hackettstown  at 8:23 a.m.  and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken  at 10:30 a.m. , struck and killed an adult male pedestrian near the Little Falls Station.  Officials said there were no reported injuries among the approximately 13 passengers and crew. New Jersey Transit Police personnel are on the scene leading the investigation with Little Falls police.  Substitute bus service has been provided to accommodate impacted customers.  Remember 20-year-old man killed by an NJ Transit train on April 28, 2021 in Hackensack, NJ A man was killed when he was struck by a commuter train near Hackensack's Essex Street Station, according to NJ Transit. The victim, who has not been identified, was hit by a train bound for Spring Valley, New York, on the Pascack Valley Line shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Paul Milo of NJ Transit said. Milo described the victim as a man in his early 20s.  The incident led the agency to suspend service on the Pascack Valley Line between New Bridge Landing and Essex Street for about an hour.
