Woman, 71, struck and killed by NJ Transit train identified by authorities
A Morris County woman killed early Monday when she was hit by a New Jersey Transit train near Convent Station in Morristown has been identified as a 71-year-old resident of the town, authorities said.
Jane B. Siegel was struck at 4:39 a.m. by train 6602, which had departed Dover at 4:16 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 5:44 a.m., transit officials said.
Siegel was hit at Kahn Road near Convent Station in Morristown, said Jim Smith, spokesman for NJ Transit.
There were no injuries to the train’s 30 passengers or the crew members. The incident remains under investigation, Smith said.
Morris & Essex Line train service was suspended for a short time on Monday between Summit and Dover.
