At around 9 p.m., the Main Line train No. 1129, which departed Hoboken at 8:46 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Suffern at 10:01 p.m., struck and fatally injured a male pedestrian at the east end of the Bergen Tunnel on the Jersey City-Hoboken border, NJ Transit Spokesman Jim Smith told Patch. No injuries were reported to the 41 customers or crew on board at the time, Smith said.

The pedestrian was found on the side of Route 88 (Main Street) after being hit shortly before 9:45 p.m., the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday. He was brought to a local hospital, where he died. His identity was not released pending family notification. The driver didn’t stop but was later found operating the bus in Howell. “The operator of the bus has been cooperative,” the prosecutor’s office said, adding that the incident remains under investigation. John Barker, 48, was driving a 2006 Mercedes-Benz sedan southbound on Shore Road, near the White Horse Pike, when the vehicle collided with the bus at the road’s intersection with Ohio Avenue around 5:30 p.m. The bus was on its way to Lindenwold from Atlantic City, NJ Transit spokesperson Jim Smith said Friday. Remembering Lakewood man who was walking on the sidewalk was struck and killed by a NJ Transit bus   LAKEWOOD — A man walking on the sidewalk was struck and killed by a NJ Transit bus as it turned into a terminal park lot Monday night, according to a report by The Lakewood Scoop. Surveillance video  obtained by The Scoop shows the bus turning left from Route 88 into the Lakewood bus terminal as the man walks across the entrance around 10 p.m. and doesn't stop as the bus comes towards the sidewalk. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer identified the man only as being 32-years-old.  Remember Woman struck and killed by NJ Transit train in Little Falls, October  7, 2021 An unidentified woman was killed after being struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Little Falls on Thursday morning, a spokesman for the transit company confirmed. At 7:32 a.m., the woman was struck by a Montclair-Boonton line train bound for Hoboken, the spokesperson said. The strike happened just west of Main and Dewey streets, near the Wayne border. Rail service on the Montclair-Boonton Line was suspended in both directions between Denville and Montclair State University.
