SUMMIT, NJ, (July 24, 2023) - A 29-year-old Scotch Plains man was killed after being hit by a Morris & Essex Line train near the Summit station at about 1:20 p.m., NJ Transit officials said.

Sadly, Evan Krupp died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The train that struck Krupp had 45 people aboard and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 2 p.m. A tragic incident near the Summit station involving an NJ Transit train resulted in the loss of Evan Krupp, a 29-year-old from Scotch Plains, Union County. Remembering  Adeline Derephonse, age 53, of Irvington, NJ who was killed by Coach USA bus driver  The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a bus in South Orange on May 21 has been identified as Adeline Derephonse, age 53, of Irvington, NJ. The incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the South Orange Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is active. Derephonse was stuck while in the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Valley Street in South Orange Village Center and pronounced dead on the scene. According to Thomas Fennelly of the ECPO, “The incident occurred at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Valley Street. A female pedestrian was struck by a Coach USA bus.
