Remember Juvenile Struck and Killed by NJ Transit Train Near Maplewood Station
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A juvenile female died today on the train tracks west of the Maplewood NJ Transit station.
The non-revenue train X667 was enroute to Dover from Penn Station New York; no passengers were aboard. The girl was struck and fatally injured at 12:15 p.m., confirmed Mariluz Garcia-Diaz, NJ Transit senior public information officer. Maplewood Police Department and Maplewood Fire Department responded quickly to the scene.
"The Morris-Essex line is temporarily suspended, but we are cross honoring the railroad tickets," Garcia-Diaz said. With the investigation ongoing, she could not estimate a time for the resumption of train service.
