ASBURY PARK - The man struck and killed by an NJ Transit train Sunday has been identified.

James Kessock, 34, of Barnegat, was found on the tracks near First Avenue at 9:55 p.m., an NJ Transit spokesperson said.

Officials do not yet know which train hit the victim.

Rail service along the North Jersey Coast Line route was suspended between Long Branch and Bay Head after the man was struck, according to NJ Transit.

Kessock was the third victim to die after being struck by a train in Monmouth County in one week.

Early Saturday morning, a boy was killed by a train close to the Red Bank station, near where Drs. James Parker Boulevard merges into East Bergen Place, according to NJ Transit. His identity has not been released.

Belmar resident Cynthia Sussman, 73, died after she was struck by a train in Spring Lake on Sunday, Nov. 28, officials said.

The causes of the three incidents are still under investigation.
