Remembering NJ Transit train victim killed in Hackensack on October 3, 2020

A man was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train in Hackensack on Saturday, a representative of the agency said.

NJ Transit spokesman Paul Milo said the train hit the pedestrian near Passaic Street at about 2:45 p.m.

Milo said the man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after the incident.

None of the 50 passengers and crew on the train were injured, Milo said.

The train had left Hoboken around 2:13 p.m. going to Spring Valley, New York, on the Pascack Valley Line. Milo said service on the line in both directions was temporarily suspended. However, NJ Transit said in an update around 6 p.m. that service had resumed in both directions between Teterboro and New Bridge Landing in River Edge.

The incident is being investigated by NJ Transit police.
