An Oak Ridge woman was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train Tuesday evening, according to a company spokesperson.
Skyla Giles, 20, who resided in Oak Ridge, an unincorporated community along the border of Jefferson Township and West Milford, was fatally struck by a Morris and Essex line train around 6 p.m. near the Brick Church station in East Orange, according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic.
Torbic said the train departed Hoboken and was headed to Lake Hopatcong.
Trains were delayed for up to two hours as police conducted an investigation.
A cause and manner of death are being determined by the Essex County Medical Examiner’s Office, Torbic said, but she noted that Giles was “trespassing” at the time of the incident. https://www.njherald.com/news/20181004/oak-ridge-woman-struck-killed-by-train
