Montclair, NJ – Train Accident Involving Pedestrian on Watchung Avenue

Montclair, NJ (May 13, 2019) – This morning, around 5:22 a.m., police responded to the scene of a train accident on Watchung Avenue. Delays occurred in the area for some time.
The man was struck this morning for reasons that are not yet known. Police are still trying to figure out why the pedestrian was on the tracks at that time.
Service was suspended in both directions until around 6:30 a.m. Emergency responders could be seen in the area and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Remembering  Adeline Derephonse, age 53, of Irvington, NJ who was killed by Coach USA bus driver  The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a bus in South Orange on May 21 has been identified as Adeline Derephonse, age 53, of Irvington, NJ. The incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the South Orange Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is active. Derephonse was stuck while in the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Valley Street in South Orange Village Center and pronounced dead on the scene. According to Thomas Fennelly of the ECPO, “The incident occurred at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Valley Street. A female pedestrian was struck by a Coach USA bus.
