Cecile Archer, of Westwood, was hit by a Pascack Valley line train at 9:47 a.m. in the area of Broadway and Jefferson Avenue, a New Jersey Transit spokesman said. The train was en route to Spring Valley, New York from Hoboken. Service was suspended for about three hours and substitute bus service was provided. New Jersey Transit police are still investigating how Archer ended up on the tracks.

The North Jersey Coast Line train 4398 had left Bay Head at 11:34 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Long Branch at 12:13 a.m., NJ Transit spokeswoman Anjali Hemphill said. The collision occurred at 11:50 p.m. near where the tracks cross Ocean Road, Hemphill said. Their were six people on board at the time, none injured, she said. It was the last train from Bay Head to Long Branch for the day. The man's name has not been released since next of kin have not been notified, she said.
