Remember Bound Brook Man John Kardos, a 47-year-Killed By NJ Transit Train in Bridgewater- Sep 4, 2010


New Jersey Transit Police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old male who was struck and killed by a Raritan-bound New Jersey Transit train around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man was identified as John Kardos, a 47-year-old Bound Brook resident, though the medical examiner has not determined an official cause of death, according to NJ Transit Spokesman Dan Stessel.

"I can tell you that this individual stepped on to the track, and made no apparent effort to get out of the way of the train," Stessel said. "The investigation remains open until we have autopsy results."

No other injuries were reported, but the Morris and Essex Line is subject to 45-minute delays between Morristown and Summit, an NJ Transit spokesperson told Patch at about noon Monday. But NJ Transit tweeted that, as of 12:30 p.m., the line was operating on or close to schedule in both directions. The incident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. Monday around the NJ Route 124 bridge.
