Juvenile struck and killed by NJ Transit train in Millburn, officials say
UPDATE: NJ Transit said early this afternoon that the person killed is a “male juvenile” and not a man as the agency stated this morning. Service is running on or close to schedule.
A pedestrian described as a juvenile was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train on Tuesday morning and service was suspended on two lines, officials said.
The male juvenile was hit by Morris and Essex train 6602 just east of the Millburn station at 5:15 a.m, New Jersey Transit said.
The Morris and Essex line is not running between Dover and East Orange as of 7 a.m. Gladstone line service is also suspended.
There were 25 people on the train from Dover, which was due to arrive at New York Penn Statin at 5:44 a.m.
The victim’s identity wasn’t released, pending family notification.
