Maresca was near a crosswalk, Kahn said, although police are investigating whether she was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck. 
No charges were filed as of Wednesday afternoon. The Bergen County Crime Scene Unit was also on the scene.

Transit later said the person died. The person was hit around 5:07 p.m. The incident disrupted service between New York Penn and Newark Penn stations, NJ Transit and Amtrak said. No other injuries were reported, but the Morris and Essex Line is subject to 45-minute delays between Morristown and Summit, an NJ Transit spokesperson told Patch at about noon Monday. But NJ Transit tweeted that, as of 12:30 p.m., the line was operating on or close to schedule in both directions. The incident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. Monday around the NJ Route 124 bridge. The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center. NJ Transit did not identify them.
